Restricting file access in GravityExport & GravityExport Lite

GravityExport Lite provides built-in options to control access to download URLs, ensuring that your exported entries remain secure. Here’s how you can restrict access:

1. Download Permissions

GravityExport Lite includes a feature called Download Permissions, which restricts URL access exclusively to logged-in users. You can configure this by selecting the following option:

  • Everyone can download

If selected, anyone with the link can download, regardless of whether they are logged in or not.

  • Logged-in users who have ‘Export Entries’ access:

Selecting this setting ensures only logged-in users possessing the gravityforms_export_entries capability can access the export URL.

2. GravityExport: Filters (Additional Restrictions)

For more specific restrictions based on user roles, utilize the GravityExport: Filters functionality with Conditional Logic. With GravityExport Filters, you can:

  • Choose specific user roles authorized to download the exported file
  • Fine-tune access control beyond basic logged-in permissions

By combining these two methods, you can effectively secure your GravityExport download links and ensure only authorized personnel have access.
